Mayhew slipped by Sargeant on a restart after a late caution for Dave
Smith going off course in turn 7. These two combined to lead all the laps.

Cup regulars Austin Dillon and Trevor Bayne were non-factors in the race.

Trevor Bayne started at the rear, so it's possible if he had been able
to start 9th, which is where he qualified, he could've been a factor. To
climb from the rear to 10th says something, given how hard it is to
climb at this track, combined with this being his first Sonoma race.

^64 laps in a superior car is more than enough time for a talented
driver to move into contention

halfway break (lap 30).

William Byron makes his K&N West debut and finishes in the top-5. Byron
was a K&N East regular in 2015 and won the series title.
