Todd Gilliland dominates yet another K&N West race but lost the lead
after getting into it with teammate Chris Eggleston. The pair made a
remarkable charge back through the field but ran out of time while the
victory fell right into Ryan Partridge's lap, and Partridge is now
single digit points behind Gilliland as the season begins to wind down.
This should be a fantastic battle for the championship.

The NASCAR West series returns to Douglas County Speedway for its first
race at the Oregon short track in more than six years.

Note: Andrew Koens #06 use the Toyota #06 for qualifying and race
instead of the Chevrolet #06 after a mechanical issue in the final
practice with the Chevrolet.

Note: 3 female drivers in this race = equal West record.

Oregon's own Gracin Raz finishes second in his first-ever race at
Douglas County. He watched a few races here as a spectator before
finally getting a chance to be part of the action.

Bill Kann had motor issues after qualifying. He seemingly got them fixed
but had to pit for additional work right before the green. After the
start of the race he came out and was caught then lapped almost
immediately, he eventually fell out very early.

Andrew Koens makes his series debut.

Julia Landauer came back to finish in the top-5 despite spinning early
trying to pass Cole Rouse. She got into Rouse a few times before one
bump ended with her Camry sideways in turn 3.

Matt Levin missed this race due to work commitments at the Port of
Tuscon so he gave the keys to his #14 to rookie Stafford Smith in this
race. Smith had a short night after hitting the wall early on.

Vanessa Robinson makes her K&N West debut. She got into Rich DeLong III
resulting in DeLong going for a spin in this one but both drivers
continued on.

The McAnally NAPA cars dominated until they took each other out by
mistake. Eggleston got loose off turn 2 and bumped Gilliland, spinning
Gilliland. This slowed Eggleston who was then rear ended and spun by
Partridge. Partridge kept it straight, took the lead, and led the rest
of the race on his way to the win.

Riley Herbst finishes third for the third race in a row. These runs were
his best finishes of the 2016 season.

This was a race full of up-and-comers, as well. Noah Gragson, Julia
Landauer, Todd Gilliland...all of them figure to be racing at a high
level for many years to come.

Dave Burns and Frank Stoddard were the commentators. Heather DeBeaux was
the sole pit road reporter.
