George posted: 06.18.2018 - 1:23 pm Rate this comment: (3) (0) I'm not a fan of Cup drivers stinking up any lower series, but a bunch of young drivers getting some laps in -- on a road course -- is hardly the same thing as Kyle Busch taking the wheel of the best equipment in the Xfinity series, taking an insurmountable lead moments after the green flag waves and cruising to an inevitable victory on an oval while the few spectators in attendance breathlessly wait to see which series regular, if any, can even get within 10 seconds of him. 7. George posted: 06.18.2018 - 1:29 pm Rate this comment: (4) (0) Yeah, because Jones, Almirola, Bowman, Byron & Suarez being there is exactly the same thing as if it were KyBu, Harvick, Truex, Hamlin & Larson. BTW, refraining from having a hissy fit about it is not quite the same as "defending" it either. 9. Jonesfan7720 posted: 06.18.2018 - 2:06 pm Rate this comment: (3) (0) The only one I really have an issue with is Almirola. The other 4 barely have any road racing experience, especially at Sonoma. Am I fan of them going all the way down the ladder? Not really, but as long as they all run clean races and don't take out any regular drivers, there shouldn't be an issue. 11. Ultimate Warrior #18 posted: 06.18.2018 - 3:08 pm Rate this comment: (1) (0) I understand Byron running he needs laps and experience. Bowman hasn't road raced in a while understandable. Erik Jones is weak on road courses understandable but Almirola has been around a while but i understand him getting the laps because of Chase contention and the Charlotte roval is a Chase race. And Suarez he comes from a road racing background so i guess this race is for confidence. 12. Kent Smith posted: 06.18.2018 - 4:30 pm Rate this comment: (1) (0) Cup drivers get experience while providing others a chance to race with them -- a win win. And yep my money is on Will Rodgers, barring an incident, to win it. 13. Regardless of how long he's been in Cup, he's not very good at these races. At all. 14. Benjamin Schneider posted: 06.19.2018 - 10:41 am Rate this comment: (1) (0) My opinion: this is far better than Brad Keselowski running Xfinity or Kyle Busch running Trucks. Many of the young drivers there are already driving for Cup affiliates, and those two series already get plenty of national exposure. The K&N Series, on the other hand, do not. When a Cup driver returns to this level (Harvick this year at Kern County, for example), more attention shines on this series and its stars (really, if it weren't for Harvick the last two years, would Will Rodgers and Hailie Deegan be as well-known as they are? I don't think so. To have five Cup stars in this race is probably a bit excessive, but to be honest, I'd much rather see that than five Cup guys Buschwacking at Iowa on their week off. 15. Scott B posted: 06.19.2018 - 11:16 am Rate this comment: (0) (0) If a K&N series regular wins this, they are going to get noticed by people who can help them advance. 16. Mannoroth posted: 06.19.2018 - 12:33 pm Rate this comment: (0) (1) 4. Don't worry. If a Cup driver wins this race, that win won't count as a professional NASCAR win, because K&N Pro Series is not a national series. So it doesn't matter that much... if they want to get experience, so be it. But, like George said, it won't be much different, if Erik Jones or Kyle Busch would win that race - still a Cup driver that robbed the series regular for the win. 14. I don't think Kyle running Trucks is as good example as Brad Keselowski running Xfinity, because Brad does it for his Cup team, Penske Racing, apart from Kyle, who just helps his own Truck team. Plus, what the hell is wrong with his 5 races? That's hardly 1/5 of all Truck races... And even before those limits, he hasn't ran more than 7 races since 2014, because his rookies are able to be good and Kyle isn't needed that much anymore. If he really wanted to surpass Hornaday so badly, he would race more than just 4 times in 2015 and 2016... 17. David posted: 06.23.2018 - 2:39 pm Rate this comment: (0) (0) 15- that's a massive 'if'. His first win came in his 25th start on the tour. Rodgers had three prior K&N East wins, sweeping all three of the road course races he had run in that series, before he broke through on the West Coast with this one. 33.
