Not sure that's true. Can't find anything saying that elsewhere. That is
a poster that has made comments with incorrect info in the past - just
look at the very first comment on this page! - so take that with a grain
or twelve of salt.

I don't think so. It would be "Eggleston crashes before retiring" if
that was the case. "Retirment" brings to mind a departure from racing.
