Just under two-tenths between 1st and 9th in qualifying. If the field size is so tiny, then it had better at least be competitive, and it seems like that might indeed be the case here. 3. rm posted: 10.23.2020 - 10:04 pm Rate this comment: (0) (0) Bobby Hillis is off to a great start as he had to get push-started to get going. Bridget Burgess has the lone gen-4-style body in the field. 4. rm posted: 10.23.2020 - 10:07 pm Rate this comment: (1) (0) Made it all of 2 laps before a caution comes out, with Holley Hollan going for a spin in turns 1 & 2. Her rookie year in stock cars has been pretty rough. The replay shows this was a bizarre accident. Todd Souza gave Hollan a bump to send her spinning, and Takuma Koga ran up and over the left rear of Souza's car and did his very best to land on Souza's roof. Not something you see every day...or year... 5. rm posted: 10.23.2020 - 10:10 pm Rate this comment: (0) (0) Bridget Burgess spins in turn 2 and the field roars by like nothing even happened. We are definitely in for a weird one tonight if the first 10 laps are any indication. 6. rm posted: 10.23.2020 - 10:12 pm Rate this comment: (0) (0) And a caution comes out anyway when Blaine Perkins is sent for a spin by Mason Diaz. At the rate we're going, there might be more cautions tonight than there are cars that finish the race. Diaz got the jump on the opening start, but polesitter Taylor Gray regained it on the next restart. 7. rm posted: 10.23.2020 - 10:25 pm Rate this comment: (0) (0) Caution right at about halfway, Bridget Burgess spins in turn 4. Of course, after three incidents in the first 20 laps, they had to go on a long green flag run. Gray is still in the lead. 8. Going to be a 15-lap shootout! 10. rm posted: 10.23.2020 - 10:40 pm Rate this comment: (0) (0) Made it two more laps before another yellow, Hollan goes for another spin, though there might not have been any contact this time. I think Todd Souza's car here tops David Gravel's car from the ARCA race at Daytona in February for the strangest-looking repair job. Bodywork is overrated, apparently. 11. rm posted: 10.23.2020 - 10:41 pm Rate this comment: (0) (0) Oh boy, big crash. Wood, Trotter, Diaz, maybe both Sunrise cars? 12. rm posted: 10.23.2020 - 10:44 pm Rate this comment: (1) (0) Blaine Perkins is trying to rub the outside wall to knock off one of the composite panels that's hanging from his car. He is also trying to use his teammate Trevor Huddleston's car to knock it off. What a strange race. 13. rm posted: 10.23.2020 - 10:49 pm Rate this comment: (1) (0) Wow. What a finish. Restarted with 4 to go, Gio Scelzi got a strong jump on Gray from the outside line and raced him from the outside line. Holley Hollan spun out - again! - in turns 1/2 with 3 to go but no yellow flag waved. Coming to the white flag, Scelzi tried to move Gray and the pair got hooked together from turn 4 just about all the way down into turn 1, where Gray then spun out, presumably from a cut tire. When the smoke all cleared, Scelzi has his first career win. Todd Souza, driving a car with no body panels on the left rear, somehow dodged all the late-race chaos and finished second. 14. He's in my opinion the championship favorite in whichever series he runs fulltime next year. 16. NascarLeadLapPoints posted: 10.24.2020 - 7:45 am Rate this comment: (0) (0) Bobby Hillis was 13th 17. MSportRev posted: 10.24.2020 - 1:54 pm Rate this comment: (1) (0) @17, no, Hillis went to pit road after 41 laps and never returned. I don't know what his official status would be other than did not finish 19. rm posted: 10.25.2020 - 7:42 am Rate this comment: (1) (0) The ending of this race had remarkable similarities to last year's Meridian race: a big crash late collects the field just behind the leader, chaos erupts on the final restart but no caution is called, and the Bill McAnally NAPA #16 car wins the race over the unlikely runner-up of Todd Souza when Souza comes out of nowhere to finish a relatively-distant second. 20.
