Very long race at the ever-tricky Kil-Kare track. Jon Kerley launched off of Kyle Shoemaker's left front on the frontstretch early on and went flying head on into the water barrels over in turn 1. Somehow both cars continued on, albeit with heavy damage. Robbie Thompson followed that up by getting the rear end of his car taken off by Charlie Ford to bring out the next caution. Thompson got back out there, only to be spun around again not very long after in a multi car incident when yet another car failed to stop in time for the caution. Kerley's eventful race continued when he was part of a two-car synchronized spin on the ensuing restart. Despite this being a 3/8th of a mile track, major incidents kept coming. Mike Stacy and Pete Wormcastle crashed into the turn 1 grass, leaving Wormcastle with severe rear end damage and the turn 1 grass with a small fire that was eventually extinguished. Jimmy Burns and Kertus Davis backed it into the "backstretch" wall while racing for third, which led to a red flag when a thunderstorm popped up during the caution. The rest of the night was rained out shy of 100 laps. The race resumed on Saturday, the fifth, under cloud cover during the daytime. Many teams were down crew members who couldn't stay to finish out the now two-day show. They didn't get very far as Shoemaker brought out another caution by wrecking on his own in turn 4 in a very damaged car. On the restart, a multi-car incident resulted in Joe Harrison Jr's day ending soon when he was part of a gaggle that crashed right in front of leader Brian Ross. Shoemaker wasn't done crashing, as he spun on his own - again - ending what looked to be Jeff Agnew's shot at passing Brian Ross for the lead in traffic. Agnew had another shot on the restart, but his attempted pass was nullified again when two already damaged cars took each other out in the back of the pack. Agnew finally wore Ross down with 28 to go, as Ross went way wide into turn 1 and smacked the wall several times before getting it straightened out again. Agnew had to survive a late restart after Joel Kauffman spun from 4th with just 8 to go, but held everyone else off on the ensuing green-white-checkered to win. 2.
