Short-track legend Mike Garvey scores his only USAR ProCup victory after
taking the lead from Bobby Gill late. This was only Garvey's third start
in the series.

Attendance - 12,000

Mark Whitaker was black-flagged for failing to yield to the leaders and
made a sudden move to serve his penalty on lap 81 - right in front of
one of said leaders, Steven Wallace. Wallace drove over the top of
Whitaker - literally - and got a scary amount of air before dismounting.
Whitaker rolled around another lap before pulling in for good, leading
to an irate Wallace trashing Whitaker in his subsequent interview.
Wallace's car was a complete writeoff, engine and all. Wallace said he
thought he was going to hit a telephone pole on the inside of the inner
pit wall for a moment before returning to the ground, thankfully still
on the racing surface.

Series officials weren't much happier about Whitaker's late break to pit
road either. The dentist-turned-driver didn't return to the tour for
nearly four months.
