His win would also be the last in the series for Pontiac as a manufacturer. 4. rm posted: 04.06.2018 - 12:17 am Rate this comment: (1) (0) First caution - laps 52-56 - 22 slow on track Second caution - laps 171-184 - 55 accident turn 2 Third caution - laps 187-192 - 77 spun turn 4 11 DNF reason - clutch 22 DNF reason - brakes 77 DNF reason - engine 99 DNF reason - brakes To the rear - 71 - backup car 22 sponsor - Friends of Coal Derek Kale lost the brakes going into turn 2 and nearly went head on into the opening in the wall that separates the garage from the racetrack. A nice save led to only slight contact with the right rear, but a fire in the right front ended his night early. A lengthy green flag run meant that drivers needed to pit under green. Dominant car Benny Gordon had no radio communication with his team, so they had to do things the old fashioned way - holding a sign saying "PIT NOW." Commentators were incredulous, as they only recalled one other round of green flag pit stops in Pro Cup history before this - a race at Winchester. Of course, as soon as Gordon pit, Woody Howard crashed hard in turn 2 to bring out just the second caution in over 170 laps. New leader Gary St. Amant promptly ran out of fuel under caution. Stalling on pit road, other teams helped out St. Amant by pushing him to the aid of his crew and even trying to fuel him at one point. The untimely yellow left just two cars on the lead lap, and the race went on to finish in that way. ------------------------------------------------------------------------ *Post a comment:* Your comment may not appear immediately - all comments must be approved by the moderator.
