Caleb Holman continues his title hunt by winning his second championship race in a row. It's his fourth win this season in 10 races. Holman, 2012 champion J.P. Morgan who is second in points, and Jeff Oakley are now the only drivers left who have run every race this season. 5. The only other four-vehicle race I can think of is one of the Truck series exhibitions, the 1994 Saugus Supertruck exhibition. 6. 23andJoe posted: 09.25.2014 - 5:19 pm Rate this comment: (0) (0) ... It's the only way for the series to survive at this point, outside of an outright merger with something like the southern super series. 18. rw posted: 09.25.2014 - 10:44 pm Rate this comment: (0) (0) Whaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaat? 19. That's a start. >sad to see the last major short track series in America fail. Well there's still PASS. The former though is absolutely allergic to media coverage for some reason... I think the best route ahead for Pro Cup - which has ALWAYS been a cursed series, remember that it evolved from the (literal) wreckage of the old NASCAR Sportsman Series, a series so (literallly) murderous it's basically been memory-holed - would be to essentially become an ACT South series. Switch to the ACT-type car and crate engine package, which would both keep the series alive and fill a niche in the southeastern racing scene that is not filled - PASS (and current Pro Cup) use the LMSC type cars, while the Southern Super Series runs Super Late Models; ACT cars are roughly equivilant to Pro Late Models. 27. Rexrobe posted: 09.26.2014 - 6:17 pm Rate this comment: (0) (0) Speaking as a North Carolinian, as much as it pains me to say it, short track racing in the Southeast is in rough shape in general. It seems like every track and every series is struggling to stay afloat, and the area from Georgia to Virginia just seems like a dead zone for racing. Other regions have series that are more or less stable - the Southern Supers in the deep south, ARCA/CRA Tour, PASS, and ACT in their own areas. Even NASCAR late models have been hurting since the pipeline for old Cup/N'wide equipment has dried up. The only series that has any sort of a buzz around it is the Koma Modifieds, and they are still having to use field fillers to get above 12-15 cars. For an area so identified with racing, it is truly a sad sight. 28. Rexrobe posted: 09.26.2014 - 6:21 pm Rate this comment: (0) (0) 23andJoe, I really like the idea of an "ACT-South" type series. The only problem is that there is no one here to lead it... 29. Anonymous posted: 09.26.2014 - 8:59 pm Rate this comment: (2) (0) First 30 laps were run under caution. Gotta be brutal for whatever fans that did show up to see 4 cars run at caution speed for that amount of laps. 30. Danish_Pie posted: 03.17.2021 - 6:43 pm Rate this comment: (0) (0) With the addition a couple years ago of Triple AAA Champ car seasons going back to 1905, this race no longer holds the distinction of lowest car count for a points paying event in any series tracked by the site. Sad to say that was as much as 109 years prior to this one... ------------------------------------------------------------------------ *Post a comment:* Your comment may not appear immediately - all comments must be approved by the moderator.
