This series, half of what was one X-1R Pro Cup, uses late model bodies,
basically the same as the NASCAR Whelen All American weekly series.
Apparently this series was formed out of an old UARA series that ran in
Virginia and the Carolinas.

I also just want to point out that Todd Gilliland (no relation to David)
isn't even fifteen yet.

UARA-STARS ran from 2002 through 2013; it took a year off for 2014 and
then at the end of 2014 it was announced the series had folded. Series
champions who are names that might ring bells include Danny O'Quinn Jr.,
Jake Crum, Coleman Pressley and Brennan Poole.

Hopefully there's more UARA heritage in the series here than Pro Cup.
Fine as it was Pro Cup was the inheritor of Humpy Wheeler's old NASCAR
Sportsman Series; that series was utterly snakebit (to the point most
people nowadays don't even know it ever existed, it's been memory-holed
so hard) and its curse passed on.

Stacy never had a good ride in cup.. he tore up the late model scene in
the 90's in VA... I watched him lap a field with no prob.

Deac McCaskill (a four-time track champion at Southern National
Motorsports Park) dominated the race, but a late-race restart allowed
Gilliland to close the gap and put a bumper to McCaskill for the win.

Obviously, with it being the inaugural race, Gilliland won in his first
CARS LMSC start ... a trend he has since matched in ARCA and both sides
of K&N.
