The sponsorship was most definitely part of the throwback look, Heilig-Myers' chain of furniture stores went out of business in 2000 not long after ending its NASCAR sponsorships. Caroll's car replicated the #90 that Dick Trickle drove in 1998 during the company's last season of full-time NASCAR involvement. Caroll's IBCI sponsorship was real though, the company is his regular sponsor this season on. His cars are normally fielded as the #57. 4. The trio got three-wide at times going for the win before the leading McDaniel clipped Alfredo with five laps to go, they stayed out of trouble but the loss of momentum allowed Carroll to speed past for the win. Carroll's tribute to short track legend Dick Trickle on his #90 extended beyond the paint scheme. Inside the car the team put a cigarette lighter in reference to Trickle's famous habit of smoking during races. Carroll said it felt like Dick was on board with him during this race. Deac McCaskill ran this race with a Dale Earnhardt-inspired blue-and-yellow Wrangler car. His #3 replicated the Intimidator's 1984 paint scheme. 5. Kelley Earnhardt raced a lot her at Hickory so it was a fitting choice for the throwback race. 9. While Landon Huffman's car was a modern Toyota Camry late model the front of the car was given decals to replicate the grill and branding of a Toyota Celica, the sporty model that Robert Huffman drove to much success in the Dash series during the earliest days of Toyotas NASCAR involvement in the early 2000s. Tommy Lemons, Jr.'s #27 for this race had a throwback look inspired by Rusty Wallace's 1990 Winston Cup car. His sponsors, like McDaniel's entry, were also written out in a Miller Genuine Draft-inspired font. ------------------------------------------------------------------------ *Post a comment:* Your comment may not appear immediately - all comments must be approved by the moderator.
