This series came about as a result of a merger between the All Pro Super Series and the NASCAR All American Challenge. Unfortunately, results for those series are both extremely poor and usually have no more than the winners. In fitting fashion Bobby Gill wins the first race over Jody Ridley. Ridley and Gill would wage arguably the greatest championship battle in auto racing history in 1992, with the title coming down to 1 point and Ridley winning in a last race comeback. 2. Here's to some great short track action. Atta Boy Alex for putting these results together! 3. On the first restart of the day, he missed a shift and broke the transmission, killing any chance at winning the race. Prell logged a few more laps before ending his day before even reaching the halfway mark. DC: 19 - Scotty Lovelady - Lovelady Racing - Chevrolet Scotty Lovelady easily had the most painful start to the 1991 season. Lovelady ended the weekend in the hospital instead of the driver's seat due to a particularly nasty bout with kidney stones. DNQs (did not advance from heat races, listed by qualifying time, along with original time trial standing): 41. Lee Faulk (22nd) 42. Joey Sims (37th) 43. David Ridling (38th) 44. Scott Bass (41st) 45. Robby Johnson (44th) 46. Ron McDonald (46th) 47. Guy Thomas (47th) 48. Kristal Loescher (48th) 49. Tony Anderson (49th) Despite prerace concerns from some drivers that the heat races would be disasters that tore up good cars and left deserving drivers on the sidelines, most of the cars that went home early were near the bottom of the qualifying times as you can see. Tough break for Lee Faulk, though, however I can't find if he had a mechanical issue or crash in his heat, or if he just finished too far back to advance. 8.
