Surprisingly, Purvis was quickly joined in the garage by three more drivers with mechanical failures before the race even hit the double-digit lap count mark. This was right in line with the rest of Purvis' 1992 season. In 14 appearances, he started on the pole 6 times and lined up outside the top ten just once. He had 5 wins, and 8th, a 13th and 7 DNFs - 6 being mechanical. Just after a lap 153 restart, the lights went out at the speedway. The cars were able to come to a stop without incident and the race resumed 15 minutes later when all of the lights came back on...so make that two bizarre occurrences on the evening for this race. 2. This was the first of five wins for the short track ace in 1992 and his first All Pro win in the #71 Italiano's Subs and Pizza Chevy. ------------------------------------------------------------------------ *Post a comment:* Your comment may not appear immediately - all comments must be approved by the moderator.
