Well before the halfway point, Willard was being tracked down by Jody Ridley as the leaders began to work their way through lapped traffic. Mike Cope and Steve Allison were fighting it out just ahead of the two leaders when contact between the two lappers resulted in Allison hitting the wall. No yellow waved as Willard and Ridley worked to clear themselves of the situation, but when the field came back around past a limping Allison, the slowing Allison made a move to get back at Cope. Willard just eked past the action when Allison tried to put Cope in the wall, but Ridley wasn't as lucky and was stuck on the outside of both lapped cars when Allison retaliated on Cope. Allison was done for the day, Cope finished 35 laps behind and Ridley dragged his car home 2 laps down. The damage lasted beyond just this race, though: after a rough start to the 1995 season, this marked the final All-Pro race for the 53-year old Ridley as a full-time competitor. ------------------------------------------------------------------------ *Post a comment:* Your comment may not appear immediately - all comments must be approved by the moderator.
