Mark Gerke flipped in Turn 3 in this one. He did a head-on into the wall and it resulted in a single side-over-side roll as part of a three-car wreck that also eliminated Freddie Query and Steve Allison. 2. Niedecken wasn't involved in the big wreck that destroyed 5 cars, but he did run through the debris as the field slowed down to caution speed and opted to come down pit road to change the tires, make an adjustment, and fix any minor cosmetic damage that resulted from hitting the various littered racecar parts. When they eventually called for a red flag, Niedecken's crew didn't stop work on his car, arguing that they weren't fixing damage and that the rule didn't apply to them in that scenario. The officials ruled otherwise, sending Niedecken to the tail end of the longest line which forced him to restart all the way at the back and 12th on the board instead of 5th, where he would have cycled out. ------------------------------------------------------------------------ *Post a comment:* Your comment may not appear immediately - all comments must be approved by the moderator.
