Steven Christian tallies the first of his six NASCAR All-Pro victories
as the series makes its first visit to Indiana's famous Salem Speedway.

Brad Payne's eighth-place finish was his best in All-Pro competition.

Clifford Strickland's sixth-place run would prove to be his only top-10
finish in this series.

Race was held May 19th, 1996. A short article on the race appears in the
May 20th edition of the Louisville Courier Journal.

Christian started 28th.

Race was marred by a 17 car crash on the first lap in Turn 2 which
resulted in a 35 minute red flag to clean up the mess.

All Pro staple Keith White comes home third to score his only top-5
finish in the series.

Anderson started 2nd
Crawford started 5th
Porter started 8th
Walters started 9th
Skillman started 17th
Gardner started 20th
Williamson started 22nd
Bland started 26th

Bland was in the #77 Jasper Engines Chevrolet

Christian's winnings - $6,000

After breaking in qualifying, failing to put up a time, Christian was
able to survive the first-lap carnage and remain one of the few cars in
contention to win the race. Several of the drivers starting near
Christian weren't so lucky, including Chad Bland who was directly ahead
of Christian on the grid. As the regular Salem attrition began to take
its toll on the rest of the field over the remaining 200+ laps, the
number of lead lap cars dropped sharply. Christian was 2 laps down after
pitting late in the going but carefully tracked down Toby Porter upon
getting back on the lead lap. Christian made the pass for the lead with
5 laps to go and held off Porter's attempts from there. Not a bad finish
to a race where the next-closest competitor was 5 laps down!
