This was the first ever race at St. Augustine on the pavement. It had
been dirt previously.

An addendum to that - St. Augustine did not pave the pit area until 1998.

Either dirt or grass. I can't find a ton of info on this now-defunct
track so I would assume the pit road was still dirt at the time.

Christian's pole speed was 105.988 mph

Christian crashed from the lead on lap 13 while in lapped traffic. It
was only a 3-car incident, but a lengthy red flag came out to clean up
the mess. Mike Harmon came out of nowhere on the G-W-C finish and nearly
beat Fultz but came up short. Yes, Mike Harmon was actually a pretty
good late model driver back in the day before becoming a
back-of-the-pack mainstay in Xfinity competition!
