And 2 more cautions on top of that? Maybe the most surprising thing is the 9th place finish for Ken Alexander though... 2. rm posted: 09.26.2018 - 2:49 pm Rate this comment: (1) (0) Well, good news me-from-4-months-ago (and anyone else curious) - here's what happened! To start, the race was delayed over an hour by a pop-up rain shower. Anyway, the race progresses along fairly cleanly until lap 175. Ron Young and Freddie Query get together while racing for second and crash. Query does a quick 360 and only drops to fourth place while Young is trapped near the back of the lead lap line. Hal Goodson and Billy Bigley proceed to run away from the snarling pack 1-2 until a caution on lap 192 for a multi-car calamity. For whatever reason, the caution period lasted until lap 207 despite the fact that none of the involved cars were sidelined for the night due to damage. On the restart, Keith White spins by himself at the back of the pack. Green-white-checkered number two is in order but before the cars get up to speed, Scott Kilby jacks up Freddie Query and Query noses into the pit entrance wall. The restart is waved off and the race extends even further without the green flag ever being dropped. Finally, after a whopping 19 laps of overtime, Goodson got his rightfully-deserved win when everyone kept it together over the last 2 laps. First caution - 96 spun turn 1 Second caution - 96 spun backstretch Third caution - 98 stopped backstretch Fifth caution - 09 spun turn 2 Sixth caution - 4, 8 accident Seventh caution - 03, 27, 44, 94 accident turn 2 Eighth caution - 26 spun frontstretch Eighth caution part 2 - 8, 45 accident frontstretch Goodson's winnings- $9,200 Bigley's winnings - $4,600 Reutimann's winnings - $1,350 Alexander's winnings - $1,150 Gibbs' winnings - $625 Owens' winnings - $875 Query's winnings - $1,595 Riggs' winnings - $775 Fultz's winnings - $445 Lindley's winnings - $935 Gordon's winnings - $425 3. It was Ken Alexander's only top-10 finish in any NASCAR series...although he did have two more tenths in ASA racing the following season. ------------------------------------------------------------------------ *Post a comment:* Your comment may not appear immediately - all comments must be approved by the moderator.
