It was his 10th win in the series, his only start of 2000, and his last appearance in the series. Travis Kvapil, a NASCAR Midwest Series racer at the time, makes his only All-Pro start and finishes in the top-5 after starting from the pole. This was the final year the All-American 400 counted as a NASCAR All-Pro series event. 2. Cope started last and finished last after wrecking out early. 3. Bigley finished fourth to earn his only NASCAR-sanctioned title. The field did a four-wide World of Outlaws-style "Salute to the Fans" during the pace laps as it was believed at the time this would be the last All-American 400 at Nashville Speedway. The iconic race was being replaced with a new event at the newly-opened Nashville Superspeedway, the concrete tri-oval also taking over the short track's NASCAR Busch and Truck series races in 2001. The "Civil War on Wheels" was not run again until 2004 (with a separate race called the Patriot 200 in 2003 now retroactively added to the race's history). All Pro staple Ron Young leads a lap but retires early in his final race in the series. 5. Hansen's #52 Ford in this race was a Thunderbird, a very rare breed for competing in a major race by 2000. Ford discontinued that car back in 1997 and replaced it in NASCAR Winston Cup competition in 1998 but a few hung on longer in the short track ranks. I had no idea one kept running this late. The T-Bird broke early and was on the sidelines before the 70th lap. 6. Unser1 posted: 03.09.2016 - 5:19 pm Rate this comment: (0) (0) Snap into a Slim Jim one last time! This was the All Pro series' last race with Slim Jim as the series' title sponsor. The popular meat snack brand gave way to Gatorade sports drinks in 2001. 7. rm posted: 05.02.2017 - 3:00 pm Rate this comment: (0) (0) Third caution - 68, 72 accident turn 1 Sixth caution - 01, 51, 60 accident turn 1 Seventh caution - 54 accident turn 2 Eleventh caution - 3, 25, 34, 35, 55, 95 accident backstretch Twelfth caution - 36 spun turn 4 Fourteenth caution - 0, 00 accident turn 1 (not very often you get a multi-car accident where the combined numbers of the cars involved is zero!) Garvey ran the Nashville short track classic 10 times between 1988 and 2013, taking part in the race under various different sanctioning bodies, but oddly his two wins were the only times he actually finished in the top-10 of the event. While the All American 400 was revived after this race in 2004 Garvey wouldn't return to it until 2010 following this win. 10.
