The NASCAR All Pro Series makes its final visit to Kentucky's famous
Louisville Motor Speedway in the closing days of the track's operation.
The unique almost D-shaped oval was just seven days away from when its
doors would close forever when the NASCAR short trackers hit the circuit
here. The permanent closing of Louisville was announced a few months
later in November with the track being torn down and the land
redeveloped for UPS distribution center in 2002.

In the race itself Wayne Anderson had the dominant car, especially after
a mechanical failure sent David Reutimann from the front of the field to
the sidelines, as he raced to his second win over the course of three
races. Anderson's win made him the first driver in the history of the
All Pro series to win 20 races on the tour and it would turn out to be
his penultimate triumph in the series. Anderson won twice at Louisville
during its seven years on the All Pro schedule.

Josh Clemons claimed his only All Pro pole position in this race. He led
at the start but also ended up dropping out early.

The driver who finished 24th in this race and finished 76th in the 2001
Gatorade All Pro Series points standings was not Jim Brinkley, Jr., but
instead Jim Brinkley III, from Zephyrhills, Florida.

Jim Brinkley III also had 91 total points earned for the 2001 Gatorade
All Pro Series season.
