The Southwest Series is born as Roger Avants claims the first win in
series history. He would sweep Saugus later that year to claim his only
two wins in the series.

Ivan Baldwin dumped Roman Calczynski to take the lead. NASCAR said "No"
and penalized Baldwin from the win to 2nd. Thus Roger Avants didn't
really get the checkered flag!
