The Southwest Tour had already been running at Sears Point for two years when the Cup series made its debut at the track the day after this race. The undercard arrangement worked out well for the Southwest Tour as it usually assured television coverage for this event. Jon Paques wins at Sonoma for the second year in a row. In total he would claim three of his six Southwest Tour wins at Sonoma. 4. rm posted: 01.01.2018 - 10:50 pm Rate this comment: (0) (0) First caution - 1, 5, 13, 22, 25 accident esses Second caution - 93 stalled turn 6 Third caution - 37 accident turn 11 Fourth caution - 9, 79, 93 slow on track Fifth caution - 8, 75, 127 accident keyhole (two more unidentified cars were involved too) Sixth caution - 95 accident esses Pole speed: 89.934 mph 79 DNF reason - panhard bar 93 DNF reason - ignition Hershel McGriff started 20th, not 41st. Hershel McGriff cross over from the Winston West series and turns in a runner-up performance as he makes his lone Southwest Tour start of the season. His son Hershel McGriff, Jr. also had a great day as the visiting NASCAR Northwest Tour racer makes his second Southwest Tour start and claims his lone top-10 in this series. 6.
