RaceFanX posted: 11.07.2020 - 2:51 pm Rate this comment: (1) (0) The NASCAR Southwest Tour runs its traditional finale on the undercard for the NASCAR Cup Series at Phoenix and the on track action didn't disappoint. This one was competitive wreckfest but series regular Ron Hornaday, Jr. survived the chaos to best Danny Crafton and Cup series ringer Ken Schrader to get the win. Hornaday won the battle but ultimately he lost the war. He came into the final race with a shot at the series championship but Rick Carelli held him off, bringing the #6 Chevrolet home fourth to clinch the title over Hornaday by a final margin of 56 points. It would be Colorado racer Carelli's only NASCAR Southwest Tour championship. Jon Paques would finish third in points after he raced up through the field to led a few laps then had a mechanical failure send him to the sidelines. Cup racer Darrell Waltrip entered this race for fun, and led a few laps, but fell out with mechanical woes. 2.
