Ernie Irvan makes his second and last Southwest Series start, going out
early. He had an in-car so the broadcast crew could talk to him, and I
believe they did that twice; once in pre-race, and once more during a
caution period for Jim Inglebright flipping the car at turn 6.

California road racer Larry Park, a Sears Point regular, makes his only
NASCAR Southwest Tour start, retiring but still finishing in the top
half of the field. Less than three months after this race Park, 45, was
shot dead by his wife Pati Park at the California Corvettes dealer he
ran because he had been having an affair with another female racer.

The other racer that Larry Park had his affair with was Shauna Marinus,
who insisted at Pati Park's trial for her husband Larry's murder that
she and Larry did not have a sexual relationship, despite having
"expressed feelings" for each other that started sometime in 1993.

Also RaceFanX, Larry Park's life ended three and a half months after
this race, rather than less than three months.

through the carrousel. He climbed out unharmed.
