Bob Lyon claims his only Southwest Tour win of 1994. This was his second
and final win with Eagle Snacks as the sponsor of his famous #44 and his
only win in an Oldsmobile instead of a Chevrolet.

Mesa Marin local racer Kevin Harvick moves up to play with the big boys
as the Southwest Tour comes to town. Harvick's NASCAR touring series'
debut ended with a last place finish after engine issues early BUT
everyone has to start somewhere.

The 44 was a Chevrolet.

Lyon's winnings - $4,250
Cofer's winnings - $2,210
Portenga's winnings - $1,640

Believe it or not, Mike Cofer was actually leading the series points
standings after this race, just past the halfway mark of the season and
seven months after he put his NFL career on hiatus to go fulltime NASCAR
racing.

This was the main event on an important night in NASCAR history. The
most notable undercard race for the evening was the first Supertruck
exhibition, featuring five trucks from four west coast car owners that
saw LA's own PJ Jones cross the line first.
