Busch would go on to win the SW title in '99, finish runner-up for Roush trucks in '00, & claim the inaugural Chase For The Cup in 2004. Winnings: Busch - $5,025 Portenga - $2,950 Metcalf - $1,100 Crafton - $1,360 Patterson - $625 Reed - $625 This was the first race for the Southwest tour following Chris Trickle's death the previous week. Kurt Busch delivered an emotional win for the tour by going wire-to-wire in the car Trickle had driven at the site of Trickle's lone win, coming at one of the tracks located in Trickle's home of Las Vegas. I don't think you could script that any better if you tried. As pointed out above, Las Vegas is also Kurt Busch's hometown and it was his first career win in the Southwest ranks. ------------------------------------------------------------------------ *Post a comment:* Your comment may not appear immediately - all comments must be approved by the moderator.
