Nick Joanides had his trailer stolen in the nearly two-month layoff between the Phoenix event and this race at Cajon. He was already reeling from a mechanical failure on the opening start at Phoenix that left him down on power for the remainder of that show. The week before this race, the local PD got a tip from a nearby auto shop that bought a transmission, gears and a bell housing that matched the description of parts Joanides was missing. A couple arrests were made and some pit tools were recovered as well, but Joanides was going to be scrambling to run Cajon either way. The Jackson Race Cars team let Joanides borrow parts he needed just to show up to Cajon, and this goodwill eventually led to a future partnership between them in the years to come. ------------------------------------------------------------------------ *Post a comment:* Your comment may not appear immediately - all comments must be approved by the moderator.
