The first lap crash in this race happened when Mike Pratt missed a shift
coming to the green and was turned into the outside wall by Burney
Lamar. In addition to the cars that were knocked out less than 100 yards
into the race many other cars suffered varying amounts of damage trying
to avoid the crash.
