Steve Petty flipped the car in this race. Haven't found much more than
that.

Jim Inglebright goes back to back at Sonoma.

Buckshot Jones makes his only Southwest Tour start. Jones, a Cup regular
at the time, probably ran this race to get some additional track time as
2001 was the first year he raced at Sonoma. Ultimately it was his only
year he raced at Sears Point.

Found what happened to Petty. He spun the car all on his own in turn one
and went up the hillside, sending the car into a gentle roll onto his
lid. He got out before corner workers arrived and was fine.

If you want me to provide proof, let me know.

It's lid, not his lid...dammit starting to sound like Tide.

M.K. Kanke should be listed as a withdrawal, he broke his leg in
qualifying. I don't think he would have had to get in on speed, being
the points leader at the time and all...

Steve Petty led 27 laps. He apparently hurt himself trying to get out of
his overturned car and took a trip to the local hospital via the
chopper, but he checked out just fine.
