Kanke got by him on the white flag lap off turn 4 to lead only about the last 100 yards of the race on the way to victory lane. It would be Kanke's only win of the season. Behind them Brandon Whitt finishes fifth to claim his only top-5 in Southwest Tour action. 4. rm posted: 07.05.2020 - 12:52 pm Rate this comment: (1) (0) This race actually had only 3 cautions for 22 laps. They were the caution periods that began on lap 25, lap 67, and lap 115. First caution - 64 accident turn 3 Second caution - 16 spun Third caution - 18 spun turn 1 Souza's winnings - $940 MK Kanke didn't exactly win this race, it would be more accurate to say that Burney Lamar lost it. Lamar drove into turn 1 far too deep on the final lap and Kanke took advantage by diving inside. Kanke then had the preferred line for the opposite end of the track and pulled ahead, nipping Lamar in a side-by-side finish. Lamar would dominate three more Southwest tour races in which he failed to win before finally getting the monkey off his back four months later with his first series victory. He promptly went back-to-back from there, making up for lost time. ------------------------------------------------------------------------ *Post a comment:* Your comment may not appear immediately - all comments must be approved by the moderator.
