Lights were used for the Soutwest Series at Phoenix for the first time the previous fall. 2. This was Crafton's first win on the tour in more than five years, dating back to 2000 when he was still a regular in the series on his way up the ladder. It was his fifth and final win in the series. The Copper World Classic was usually run in January or February before other series started up for the new year, taking advantage of Arizona's very mild winter, thus the reason that this race to turned into a showcase for Crafton and Schrader from higher level NASCAR series. The 2006 Classic would be the last with this format as the event moved to the fall for 2007 to tie in with a NASCAR Cup series weekend. Ultimately the races was discontinued in 2009 although a serious discussions of a revival started circulating in 2018. ------------------------------------------------------------------------ *Post a comment:* Your comment may not appear immediately - all comments must be approved by the moderator.
