The relief driver (I have no idea who) drove until lap 176 when he crashed in turn 1. L.L. Corum was relieved by Boyer on lap 111 and drove the rest of the way in the #15 car, leading the last 24 laps. 3. He just happened to have a relief driver on his A-game that day. This was Corum's only finish better than 5th in AAA (coming at the previous year's 500). Joe Boyer, on the other hand, was one of the best drivers going at the time of his death later that season. 6.
