This race was delayed two hours late because of rain, it was delayed another 1 and 45 minutes because of another rain shower. Finally it was rain-shortend because of Severe Thunderstorms, first time since 1976 the 500 was rain-shortend. 3. Combined with his brother AJ Foyt IV's eary retirement and the Foyt boys made it an absymal 32-33 finish 4. When Rice score the victory the CEO lived up to his word and purchased the car Buddy wanted; a chopped, channeled, and lowered 1949 Mercury hot rod. Natch the car was also installed with a sweet sound system by Rice's other sponsor Pioneer. 19. In the coming years the Dallara became the series' de facto spec chassis before IndyCar officially locked it in place in 2012 that all entrants had to use the same Dallara chassis. It's also the last time an American-made car won at Indianapolis since the Dallaras are built in Italy. 23. Luis Diaz completed rookie orientation in a one day test session on April 27th for Ganassi. There were never any plans for him to drive the car during May. Jacques Lazier practiced AJ Foyt IV backup car during the final week of practice but never made a qualifying attempt. 25. David posted: 06.14.2020 - 10:22 am Rate this comment: (0) (0) I agree that Diaz is not a DNQ and should be removed from the list. According to champcarstats.com however, Darren Manning (#1), Jaques Lazier (#14), Vitor Meira (#16) and Buddy Lazier (#24) are shown as DNQs. 26. possum posted: 06.14.2020 - 12:11 pm Rate this comment: (0) (0) @25 - that would seem to be either an error, or a side effect of teams entering multiple cars/drivers for the race, without intending to use them unless something strange happened. Manning qualified in the #10, Scott Dixon qualified the #1. Vitor Meira qualified the #17, Roger Yasukawa qualified the #16. Buddy Lazier qualified the #91, Felipe Giafone qualified the #24. Not sure what the story is with Jaques Lazier, the #14 was qualified by Foyt-Four, who was the car's driver all season, while Lazier spend the rest of the season with Patrick racing. Perhaps Lazier took Foyt-Four's car out for some test laps and ended up in the records that way. 27.
