He'd return to run again at Charlotte in 1986. 12. Anonymous posted: 02.02.2010 - 2:01 pm Rate this comment: (0) (1) This was Roy McGraw's only race and please find out where he is from. 13. In fact, on more than a few occasions throughout the year, two or more races would be held on the same day in different states. Drivers had to be smart about what races they picked to run as point payout was different depending on race distance, track length, etc. Big races at tracks like Daytona and Charlotte paid many more points than races at local tracks, of course. After 1981, NASCAR overhauled the series and split it, turning the "big" races into the Busch series, and eventually starting the Weekly Racing series for the races at smaller local tracks. 15. This is the NASCAR consolidation of the series into one. Kinda like the the the NASCAR weekly series that exists now. 19. This explains the sponsor, Hagerstown Speedway. I'm not sure if the driver change was done late enough to make Geoff have to start at the back. Source for this is the Daytona Beach News Journal. 26. No... Harry Gant should not be listed as the owner of the No. 33. George Dalton was a neighbor of mine and fielded his own cars, almost always numbered 33 and often blue and yellow with red numerals for many years. He started in Florida with his Miami Race car Co. and then moved to Waxhaw, NC in the early-mid 1970s. 29. USA covered this race again in 1983 and 1984 and those are also missing. 31.
