If this really was Ray's last race, he went out with a bang...just not
the right kind of bang.

Zervakis was also Lindley's crew chief

How does a guy like Sam Ard not win the championship with a sparkling
6.4 average finish and 20 top fives in 29 races in 1982? Well, the
answer might have something to do with his chief competition, Jack
Ingram, embarking on a 15-race stretch in which he had 14 top fives. The
lone blemish - if you can even call it that - was this very race in
which Ingram finished 6th. If that's your worst race during a streak,
then that's how you know you're on a roll. Ingram's streak included 11
straight top fives and five wins.
