Impressively he racked up those wins in just his first 13 Busch series starts. 8. Interestingly enough, this was not a companion race to the cup series, despite Bristol being the next race on the schedule for both series. The Winston Cup boys were on an off weekend, coming to Bristol the next weekend while the Busch series headed to Martinsville. 10. I'm not 100% certain on this. 11. possum posted: 04.10.2020 - 7:35 pm Rate this comment: (1) (0) @9 - nothing odd about that. While today the bulk of the Xfinity schedule is companion races, in the 80's that unfortunate practice was still fairly uncommon. With the fans at the track being primarily locals having two events on seperate weekends wasn't an attendance problem. 12. It was a small independent team; they didn't have a pit crew and had to do the whole race on one set of tires. It's discussed at the 7:05 mark of this interview: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yjpa6Ir1hoE&t=487s 14.
