They mentioned over and over how many Sportsman racers are in the field and how they are even using Late Model Sportsman cars, I guess, even though it was a Busch Grand National race? Kind of confusing to me. 7. Frogger49 posted: 04.18.2020 - 11:31 am Rate this comment: (2) (0) ESPN interviewed Dave Marcis after he dropped out. He didn't drop out due to Handling. This should be changed to "Quit" because he actually quit. The team didn't have air wrenches to properly change tires. After Marcis cut a tire, he parked the car. 8. Miller had the skill to get up and contend, and made a few runs at Bodine, but Bodine had the power to hold him off and score his second Busch victory. Miller was an ASA racer at the time of this one and almost missed the call to start because his car was having mechanical troubles in the pits during the pace laps. Once it got going he was a contender. This was the first nighttime Busch race ever televised by ESPN. 9. Bouchard's tenure up front was brief as brothers Dickie Linville and John Linville got together and set off a chain reaction crash that all but crashed the track with both Bouchard and Ruttman piling in violently while Larry Utsman and Rodney Howard were also collected. No one was injured but all six cars were done for the night. Ironically just before the big crash ESPN was about to air an interview with Bouchard noting that staying out of trouble would be the key to winning. Poor Joe Thurman could measure the length of his race accurately in seconds. He crashed into the Turn 4 wall on the second lap of the race and the damage was severe enough that the #4 Pontiac was out of action for the rest of this one. 10. And Marcis was not a happy camper after this one 11. It was understandable, Brett was still a newcomer climbing the ladder and his #5 Levi Garrett racer had the same yellow and white paint scheme as the one Geoff was driving in the Cup series. Rick Hendrick owned both Brett and Geoff's #5s. 12. NewGuyOnTheBlock posted: 04.20.2020 - 10:13 am Rate this comment: (0) (0) ESPN broadcast this race. You'll see two leaders clumsily pile into the back of a crash. You'll see Brett Bodine tear through the field making pass after pass after going all the way to the back (he has come to a complete stop to avoid the wreck). You'll see Dave Marcus rage quit after his team refused to change tires. You'll see old school Bristol. Good stuff! 16. He was still in the top-5 when he and L.D. Ottinger ended up in the outside wall. Ottinger was able to continue but Burks was done for the night. 22.
