Anyone who received 0 points for this race was a Busch North entered driver, even Morgan Shepherd, who appeared to be driving a Dale Shaw-owned Pontiac. 7. I found this article, it's a great read. http://www.trueracing.150m.com/trueracing/recap_1987.htm 11. 23andJoe posted: 08.15.2014 - 7:52 pm Rate this comment: (0) (0) #24 owner: Frank Cicci (link is not currently working) 12. fkhalil posted: 05.22.2019 - 3:05 pm Rate this comment: (0) (0) 44 cars on a third-of-a-mile track... Does anyone know what the record is for that type of thing? 14. RaceFanX posted: 05.22.2019 - 3:46 pm Rate this comment: (0) (0) @13 I think the most entries for any one race on the site is the 2001 Eldora Million, a one-off in the exhibition section. As the name implies the race was a dirt track late model race at Eldora that would pay the winner a cool $1 million. There were 235 entires, 217 racers who attempted to qualify, and 120 who made it into the heat races to set the 26 car starting grid for the big money feature. 15. Corey posted: 05.22.2019 - 4:21 pm Rate this comment: (2) (0) Part of the reason for the high car count is that the Oxford 250 is one of the biggest short track races in New England. I believe it was being run before NASCAR sanctioned it and continued to run after Oxford was taken off the Busch schedule. The 2013 TD Bank 250 listed on this is part of the same history as this particular race. 16. Mile501 posted: 05.22.2019 - 8:19 pm Rate this comment: (0) (0) Maybe I should have been more specific. Was this the highest car count that attempted to qualify for any top-level NASCAR race? The inaugural Brickyard 400 comes to mind, but it "only" had 86 entries compared to 97 here. 17. The Chili Bowl routinely gets over 350 entries. That is the most I can think of for a single class at an event (IMCA gets well over 700 for their Nationals, but that's for several classes). @16 - the 1956 race on the Daytona beach course seems to have had 96 entries, so this is probably the most. 19. 34McDowellFan posted: 05.22.2019 - 11:22 pm Rate this comment: (0) (0) @17 What year? 20. That might be the NASCAR record. https://www.racing-reference.info/race/1972_Miller_High_Life_500/W 21. Accounts vary, record keeping was sketchy at the time. Unfortunately there was a fatal crash on the second lap. It must have been chaotic, I can't imagine hand scoring all those cars and having any kind of accurate tabulation of the results. 22. Imagine that kind of rule being enforced today. 23.
