Ellis had a really good car but again his snake-bit season continued when his engine failed in the first half of the race. That pretty much allowed Waltrip to dominate. He had a couple of threats, most notably which caused the big incident of the day. Ernie Irvan in the 75 had a great run on the 30. Waltrip did not know he was to the outside so Waltrip took his usual line out of turn 2. Irvan got squeezed, causing him to spin into a hard charging Steve Grissom. Point leader Chuck Bown ended up impaling the hood of Irvan, which had flown off the car. Bown would recover to finish in the top 10 while Irvan and Grissom both had their races either end or lose a number of laps for repairs. The other pretty significant crash was when Dave Rezendes pinched Moise going into turn 3, sending both into spins and crashing hard. Patty was not pleased with Rezendes after the crash. Waltrip was well on his way to winning but in typical Harry Gant fashion, Gant saved his best for the closing stages of the race and was right on Waltrips bumper in the closing laps but did not have enough to pass. Waltrip claimed his 4th career victory and 2nd and final win of the 1990 season 7. jensenators posted: 01.12.2019 - 6:11 am Rate this comment: (0) (0) Car 34 crew chief is john young, said during the broadcast he was crew chief for Alan Kulwicki's ROY year in cup.
