Terry Labonte wins the first Busch race at Watkins Glen. Steve Katz
makes his only career start.

Doug Taylor, best known for his tenure as team owner in Busch/N'wide,
picks up his best finish as driver in his debut race, at 37 years of age.

Not quite. In 1986 and 1987 they raced at Road Atlanta.

@3 No. Road Atlanta was on in 1986 and 87, and a few road courses were
on in the Sportsman days.

It was the Busch series' first race at the Glen but not it's first on a
road course. The series ran a prior pair of races in 1986-87 at Road
Atlanta with Buschwacking Cup drivers winning both of them.

Texas Terry's win here was just his second win in the Busch series and
his first in just under six years. This would be Labonte's only win in
this series driving his Sunoco car but he'd go on to claim four of his
11 wins in this series here at the Glen.

Young gun Jeff Gordon makes his first NASCAR road course start. This
sixth place finish in the #1 Carolina Ford Dealers special would be his
best in the Busch Series when the road got twisty although he went on to
win nine times on road courses in the Cup series, including four wins
here at the Glen.

Caution 2: Lap 26-27: #79 stopped turn 2

Caution 3: Lap 43-45: #27,51 spun turn 7

Caution 4: Lap 50-51: #33 stopped turn 6

The commentators were Ken Squier and Debbie Bown with Dr. Dick Berggren
as the sole pit road reporter.
