I kind of wish NA$CAR would go back to disqualifying people, but I guess there's no denying the almighty $$$. 3. Johnny, Jeff Agnew, and a few other current Hooters Pro Cup racers owned these tracks (Dublin, Kingsport TN, and Coeburn Va) on Saturday Nights for years in the early - mid 90's. 6. If this happened today, Jeff Burton would just lose all his points from the race and his money, but not get stripped of the win. 9. chris o posted: 07.03.2012 - 10:13 pm Rate this comment: (4) (3) Another short track that fell to almightly superspeedway that are messing up this series. 10. Grissom fan posted: 07.26.2016 - 9:00 pm Rate this comment: (0) (0) @ comment #10, I'm a diehard Grissom fan, yet I never knew that! Of course this race wasn't nationally televised back then, why would it have been? Or else I'd have known about your comment. Good stuff. Wish many more videos of these old BGN short track races existed, YouTube has some, but nowhere near enough. Somebody must have these races taped on VHS cassettes??? 12. Grissom fan posted: 07.29.2016 - 1:45 pm Rate this comment: (0) (0) OK, anyone know why this race was run on a Tuesday? Some sort of fairgrounds promotion? 13. Wiley posted: 07.29.2016 - 1:48 pm Rate this comment: (1) (0) This race was scheduled for May 2, not May 5. So either the date on this page is wrong or the race was postponed 3 days by rain. 14. Company that has sponsored Biffle, Newman, etc. 15. The race was run on Saturday the 2nd. On Monday Burton had his win stripped from him. 17. I have a photo of Steve's car from this race, if you're interested~ Send me an email, and I'll send you a copy of it~ buttermilkjug@yahoo.com NASCAR didn't like that the team ran this scheme, and banned split paint schemes following this race~ 19. RaceFanX posted: 02.04.2017 - 10:10 pm Rate this comment: (1) (0) NASCAR did ban split paint jobs but it wasn't directly after this race. There were a couple of French's Mustard / Black Flag later on in the mid-1990s. 20. Bandit posted: 02.05.2017 - 3:30 am Rate this comment: (0) (1) That's a new one to me.. why would NA$CAR ban split paint jobs? 21. 23andJoe posted: 02.05.2017 - 5:59 am Rate this comment: (1) (0) As I understand it the reasoning was so that the car would be recognisable from either side without confusion. When you consider the spotters trying to pick out a car it actually makes a little sense. 22. It appears they stripped Burton of his win that night. At the end of the race highlights they show Dotter interviewed as the race winner. 25. GGDC posted: 08.29.2020 - 10:15 pm Rate this comment: (0) (0) @19 They were banned well before this race. In the early 1980s James Hyton got in trouble for running a split paintjob. NASCAR says it is to confusing for the spotters and every time a car has brought a split paint job NASCAR has told them to not use it again. ------------------------------------------------------------------------ *Post a comment:* Your comment may not appear immediately - all comments must be approved by the moderator.
