Busch North driver Tony Hirschman entered with the same number. Under the rules at the time, the driver who qualified highest had the right to use the number in the race. 11. binkerbo posted: 12.16.2016 - 6:26 pm Rate this comment: (0) (0) From the back of a trading card...owner of the #32 Rene Cardinal. True for all appearances of the #32 in 1992 and 1993. 12. During his interview after he dropped out of the race, he DID, however, acknowledge Citgo & Hyde Tools as his 'sponsors', but none were visible for sure. 15. I guess illegal suspension. He then had to run in the "Losers leave town last chance qualifying race" where they took the top 2 finishers and he finished 2nd. 16. I was just adding more information about exactly what happened in this particular case and why Tony Hirschman out qualified Jeff Gordon in this race. 17. It came down to whoever survived because just about every leader had a major problem. Kenny Wallace - the 1st leader - Eventually got tied up in an incident with Joe Bessey. They got together on the front stretch in retaliation of contact in the backstretch and in that contact, Wallace lost his front bumper. They eventually put a Chevrolet front bumper on his car in place of the Pontiac as they didnt have a spare Jimmy Spencer - seemed to be a really good car early but had a bad pitstop and engine problems as the race went on. States he was out for an accident though Morgan Shepherd - Was the absolute dominant car in the mid point of the race, having as much as a 5-10 second lead. But he pitted off sequence, lost a lap and then had engine problems right after he finally got his lap back Hut Stricklin - In front of the Stanley Tools executives in the audience in his first race at NHIS he had some front bumper damage but was incredibly fast and led once Shepherd was out of the picture. But just as soon as you thought he had it in the back, battery and power issues killed their race Todd Bodine - Bodine got the lead from there and also looked to be in cruise control but he lost his brakes in the closing stages and had to back off. Fighting for 5th with Curtis Markham, he had to adjust his line and slipped into the loose stuff, hitting the wall This gave the lead to Jeff Burton who didnt have enough laps to get any snake bite on him and he went on to win You can also add Mike Rowe to this list for impressive races gone badly. He was well into the top 10 before losing control on the backstretch crashing out Interestingly the CBS broadcast had Bobby Dragon finishing 9th however Racing Reference has him in 11th, so I wonder what happened to cause this discrepancy. Either way, the race is on Youtube and is an enjoyable watch 18. 27YearsBehind posted: 07.10.2019 - 1:16 am Rate this comment: (0) (0) To add to the point above according to the broadcast the top ten finishers were as follows. 1. #8 J. Burton 2.#59 Pressley 3.#34 T. Bodine 4.#19 Peck 5.#44 B. Labonte 6.#7 Markham 7.#87 Nemecheck 8.#74 Stefanik 9.#71 Dragon 10.#25 Hensley At the very end of the broadcast they took Todd Bodine's number down to P6 due to the fact that he had been assisted across the line by another car. They announced the Nemecheck had assumed the point lead by 18 points, and so the 10 point advantage shown on this page seems to reflect the official results listed on Racing Reference, not the unofficial results listed on the broadcast. 19. And in the pit communication center was Bob Richards. ------------------------------------------------------------------------ *Post a comment:* Your comment may not appear immediately - all comments must be approved by the moderator.
