Jeff Gordon was going to be under contract for Ford, and eventually going to be driving for a Ford team, but Rick Hendrick was able to sign Jeff Gordon to a contract and had him run Hooters 500 the final Winston Cup race of 1992. Also, there was a diecast car made of Bobby Hillin driving the #28 car, this must have been the race they were representing as well as his substitution job at Talladega for Davey Allison. 11. nascarman posted: 05.01.2015 - 11:10 am Rate this comment: (1) (0) Hendrick was watching the Atlanta race in the spring. I believe Gordon already signed a contract with Hendrick for 1993 by this point. 12. nascar_vd / racing-reference.info posted: 08.12.2015 - 1:22 pm Rate this comment: (0) (0) Note: Phil Parsons did run out. He got a white flag push from Robert Pressley. That's against the rules, so NASCAR officials disallowed Parson's last lap, dropping him from third to tenth. 13. I think Nascar has just picked and chose when to enforce rules and when not to over time. Watching the last lap there were several cars getting pushed. Terry Labonte was completely out of gas, there is no way possible he made it around without getting a shove from somebody after Bobby did. This whole broadcast started out funky with Ken Squier saying Mark Martin is going to be the car to beat until something happens to it....and then that was exactly what happened. 15. The race results of that Last chance race is here: http://www.ultimateracinghistory.com/race.php?raceid=23700 would be interesting to create the page of that race as an qualifying race. 18. Gordon almost got Lepage'd by Robert Pressley coming back onto the track after the wreck. Also, Mike Waltrip - possibly attempting to exploit NASCAR's "no pushing on the last lap" rule pushed Jeff Gordon across the start finish line, whether or not Gordon was out of gas. ------------------------------------------------------------------------ *Post a comment:* Your comment may not appear immediately - all comments must be approved by the moderator.
