That's also why it's a Chevrolet. 5. Hoosier received numerous complaints from their clients (9 teams, including that of Ward Burton, Mike Wallace, Butch Miller, Jeff Green used Hoosiers in Daytona) about serious handling issues. Having compared their notes teams made the conclusion that unstable handling was caused by tires, and Bob Newton, head of Hoosier Racing tire made the decision late in the evening prior the race. 21. An episode of Inside Winston Cup Racing, which aired sometime during the 1992-93 offseason, mentioned that the Frank Cicci owned team had only planned to run a limited schedule in 1993 as they had no sponsor lined up at the time of the episode's airing. I remember an interview with Todd Bodine from early in the 1993 season where Todd mentioned that the team originally planned to run the first two races of the season (Daytona and Rockingham), with no definite plans for the rest of the season. I believe the team obtained the Fiddle Faddle sponsorship shortly before the start of the 1993 season, which allowed them to run the full schedule. 23. Anyone know why they kept it as the Busch Grand National Series for this season (and 94 I assume) before changing it to the name above in 1995? 24. Jimnsimforever posted: 02.01.2019 - 3:00 am Rate this comment: (0) (0) I've noticed something as well. Bob Labonte is listed as the crew chief this season for 2 different teams, the 44 that he is the owner on and also Terry's 14 car. From listening to the commentary I know Bob Labonte was the crew chief for his sons #14 Busch team and the owner only of the #44. Since Terry and his brother Bobby combined to run 22 of 28 races in 93 in the Busch series that's interesting their father would own his own team still but crew chief for his son's team. They did do a pit report on David Green's 44 car and said crew chief David McGee said such and such. Not sure if the spelling is correct on that name because he just said it and it wasn't up on the screen, I'll try to get it on another race. 25. Cube posted: 03.12.2019 - 2:24 pm Rate this comment: (1) (0) Tim Fedewa was involved in a spectacular accident in the closing stages of the race, with his car bouncing off another, getting airborne, and doing a complete inversion in the air similar to what Todd Bodine and Robert Pressley did a few years later. He was able to continue on for a few more laps before calling it a day. 26. Eric posted: 03.12.2019 - 7:01 pm Rate this comment: (0) (0) @25 I don't believe Fedewa ever flipped 27. Cube posted: 03.12.2019 - 7:21 pm Rate this comment: (2) (0) ^ I was at this race and the 500 the next day, I was sitting midway up at the far end of the grand stands near corner 1 entry for this race. The pileup happened coming out of corner 2, and out from all the smoke I saw the back end of that 55 car lift up into the air and as the car was lifting higher and higher it yawed to the left, the front end of the car dug into the ground, and then the car did a 360 pirouette before landing on its wheels. He drove away, and after he got back up to speed after the final restart, I noticed his car was sparking and crab walking pretty bad and got more and more squirrelly before he pulled off. He was lucky he didn't end up worse then he did a few laps earlier. 28. Danish_Pie posted: 03.12.2019 - 7:33 pm Rate this comment: (2) (0) Cube is right. Tough no actual footage of Fedewa's twirl was recorded by ESPN cameras, Benny Parsons on the broadcast commented on how his car had flown through the air like a kite. The only footage of Fedewa in the crash is his car spinning around backwards and just barely staring to go over, and also a brief snapshot from Mike Wallace's in-car camera shows the 55 pointing towards the sky. 29. Eric posted: 03.13.2019 - 7:55 am Rate this comment: (2) (0) @28 the only available photo of the accident shows the car up into the air at a pretty striking angle. A lot of people say Tim's ass end just came up into the air and set back down but Cube seems to have been an eye witness to the car doing a full flip. http://the-fastlane.co.uk/cpdb/crashphotos_view.php?editid1=1534 30. Burton's first outing in his white Thunderbird saw him qualify on the front row and finish in the top-10. 31. Especially when you look at the post from #27. In a chat with a friend of mine, he told me that a newspaper report said that he "did not flip", but I am willing to assume many people still say that neither Presley or Bodine flipped. Aside from Mr. Cube's eyewitness experience, we may never know the true details of the car's flight path, due to the incompetent camera angles. God, I love a good mystery! 32. With a crash early on here, Mark Martin embarked on a pretty strict interpretation of that statement for the 1993 Busch season. Mark ran 14 races, winning 7 and DNF'ing 7. Wonder if Jack Roush told Mark that he didn't have to take those words so literally! 34. saltsburgtrojanfan posted: 06.24.2020 - 1:30 am Rate this comment: (0) (0) Caution 1: Lap 41-44: #19,32,34 accident turn 2 Caution 2: Lap 65-70: #10,11,20,28,48,59 accident turn 2 Caution 3: Lap 72-76: #30,92,98 accident turn 4 Caution 4: Lap 102-105: debris turn 2 Caution 5: Lap 109-112: #9,19,27,55 accident backstretch Lap leaders: Ken Schrader: Lap 1-9 Dale Earnhardt: Lap 10-16 Michael Waltrip: Lap 17 Dale Earnhardt: Lap 18-41 Michael Waltrip: Lap 42-65 Dale Earnhardt: Lap 66 Larry Pearson: Lap 67 Harry Gant: Lap 68-83 Ken Schrader: Lap 84 Dale Earnhardt: Lap 85-120 35. saltsburgtrojanfan posted: 06.24.2020 - 10:04 pm Rate this comment: (0) (0) Green flags: Lap 1-40 Lap 45-64 Lap 71 Lap 77-101 Lap 106-108 Lap 113-120 36.
