One of NASCAR's most infamous goofs. 2. Dylan posted: 08.27.2014 - 12:27 am Rate this comment: (0) (0) Mark Martin was leading this race at the white flag under caution and had the race won. Apparently confused by other drivers (Tommy Houston and Tracy Leslie) pulling alongside and waving to him like the race was already over, Martin pulled off the track to go to victory lane approximately 400 feet short of the finish line. This gifted David Green his only victory of 1994. 14. saltsburgtrojanfan posted: 09.28.2015 - 11:28 pm Rate this comment: (0) (0) Caution 1: Lap 17-23: #16 accident turn 2 Caution 2: Lap 60-65: #8,72,79 spun turn 1 Caution 3: Lap 70-76: #27,31,46 accident frontstretch Caution 4: Lap 80-84: #8 spun turn 1 Caution 5: Lap 95-98: #79 spun frontstretch Caution 6: Lap 130-135: #74 accident frontstretch Caution 7: Lap 156-160: #71 accident turn 2 Caution 8: Lap 181-185: #59 spun frontstretch Caution 9: Lap 215-221: #25,55 accident turn 2 Caution 10: Lap 247-250: #25,99 accident turn 3 15. Throwing away a win like that, that doesn't happen every day, lol. 16. Thomas posted: 10.21.2016 - 2:10 pm Rate this comment: (0) (0) In Mark's defense (if I'm remembering the story right), they were having radio issues and that's why nobody on the team was able to get through to him to let him know the race wasn't over yet. 17. RaceFanX posted: 01.08.2018 - 10:25 pm Rate this comment: (0) (0) ESPN televised this race. The broadcast mentioned 10 cars failed to qualify but it didn't say who they were. Given he's MIA here I would be very surprised if Elton Sawyer wasn't one of them but who knows without an entry list. 18. Gabriel posted: 01.30.2018 - 11:46 pm Rate this comment: (1) (0) Had Mark Martin not made this move, David Green would've won the championship without recording a single victory! Austin Dillon had speed in 2013 for his title, but it was the Buschwackers that did him in. 19. Mannoroth posted: 01.31.2018 - 7:31 am Rate this comment: (0) (0) 18. Fortunately for Reddick, it was just for a stage win and not a race win--and he went on to finish 2nd in the race. 23. RaceFanX posted: 05.13.2019 - 9:37 am Rate this comment: (0) (0) Mark Martin lost a win to his error here but he would get a win back under equally unusual circumstances about a year and a half later. He finished second on the track to Dale Jarrett at MIS in 1995 then inherited the win after the fact when Jarrett was disqualified for a technical infraction after post-race inspection. 24. Mannoroth posted: 05.13.2019 - 10:03 am Rate this comment: (0) (0) 23. And like I said before, this is the reason why Mark Martin doesn't have exactly 50 Xfinity wins. Too bad, because 40 Cup wins and 7 Truck wins are very nice numbers, but 49 Xfinity wins is an ugly number. 25. Reasonable to assume this was the same Mark Thomas-owned #96 team. 27. Menardfan15 posted: 07.07.2020 - 10:56 pm Rate this comment: (0) (0) Add Elton Sawyer to the DNQ list.
