It always seems weird that, in most series, when an underdog gets their first and/or rare win, that track gets taken off the schedule. Only career top-ten for Michael Ritch. 3. I think Hermie Sadler edged out Setzer coming back to the caution and they both ended up spinning in turn one after they took the yellow. Setzer recovered first but NASCAR ruled that since Sadler won the race to the line, he's the leader. Sadler got the win as a result. 4. He recovered, but Dennis Setzer beat him around to the caution and white flag. However, Nascar ruled (and replays showed) that Sadler had already taken the caution flag for the accident, and passing under the yellow is obviously illegal, so he, and not Dennis Setzer, was awarded the winner's trophy. Also, Randy Lajoie had a hard crash and almost flipped on the fronstretch when his car nosed into the outside wall and jumped into the air, taking out a stationary camera. 6. George Crenshaw blew a motor with 2 laps to go. Nascar didn't want to throw the caution because it would mean the race would end under yellow. Crenshaw couldn't get to the bottom lane to get into the pits, and the leader (Sadler) and 3rd place (Craven) cars ended up spinning in Crenshaw's oil. THEN Nascar decided to throw the yellow, and luckily (and I only say that because Sadler would have won if Nascar hadn't screwed it up) Sadler made it to the caution first and still won the race, and Craven finished 5th, only losing 2 spots (probably enough to still be ticked if you're Craven). Coulda been worse. I kow lots of people gripe about the green/white/yellow, but to me the point of it isn't to keep races from ending under yellow, its to prevent fiascos like this which became ever more prevalent as the 90s continued, where races were allowed to continue under unsafe conditions, or red flagged unnecessarily, rather than being allowed to finish under yellow. 9. saltsburgtrojanfan posted: 09.21.2015 - 1:57 pm Rate this comment: (0) (0) Caution 1: Lap 73-77: #44 accident Caution 2: Lap 106-116: #25,75 accident turn 1 Caution 3: Lap 133-140: #43,71,88,96 accident frontstretch Caution 4: Lap 149-155: #9,43,63,72 accident turn 1 Caution 5: Lap 230-235: debris Caution 6: Lap 246-250: #20 accident frontstretch Caution 7: Lap 297-300: #2,25,55,57,96 accident turn 1 10. saltsburgtrojanfan posted: 09.21.2015 - 2:00 pm Rate this comment: (0) (0) Disclaimer #25 Hermie Sadler spun and got tagged by #96 Stevie Reeves after #25 hermie Sadler took the caution for the win 11. saltsburgtrojanfan posted: 09.21.2015 - 2:28 pm Rate this comment: (0) (0) Correction Caution 1 was from Lap 72-77 12. Awesomebillfan9 posted: 01.05.2017 - 5:40 am Rate this comment: (1) (0) Kenny Wallace dominated most of the race but a tire rule helped Sadler win. NASCAR only allowed teams to changed one set of tires under caution during the event, unless they were involved in an accident. Sadler flat spotted his tires early in the race and NASCAR allowed his team to change all four of their tires due to that incident. They also ruled that Sadler could change another set of tires because the original tires were changed due to an accident. That gave Sadler a huge advantage late in the race and he pitted with about 30 to go due to the LaJoie crash. They put on 4 fresh tires when everyone else had old tires on. He had over a 5 second lead before the Crenshaw spin and the controversy after that. The handling faded on Kenny's car, as he reliqished 2nd to Setzer late in the going but Wallace was the class of the field for most of the day. 14. I'm pretty sure the "maintaining pace under caution" rule has always been a thing, in which case Setzer should have been ruled the winner, as he passed Sadler as a result of him wrecking the lap after the caution came out (Sadler led when the caution came out with two to go, immediately crashed in turn 1, and got passed by Setzer coming back around to complete the next lap). 15. Certainly a "what just happened moment" but NASCAR got it right. https://youtu.be/6Ug52F7UY0c?t=1h14m29s 16. The argument is the caution before when they said that Hermie Sadler led lap 245 and he didn't, Kenny Wallace did. Sadler likely would've still gotten around him easily but Kenny still should've had the shot to lead the pack to the final green flag and get the chance to hold Sadler off. Both of Hermies 2 career Busch wins came at this track then it goes away. I think him falling off had more to do with him getting into a bad car after this year for the next several seasons. Once you drive a bad car for a while you never will get your confidence back again. At least that's what I've heard a lot of the greats say. 18. This race was initially on the schedule to return in 1995 but ultimately it was cancelled and NASCAR never ran a national series race here again. 20. That's just to clear things up if you having trouble looking up this race, unless you look at the video links tab of this page. ------------------------------------------------------------------------ *Post a comment:* Your comment may not appear immediately - all comments must be approved by the moderator.
