Kevin Lepage DNFed with a flat tire because the tire went flat with two laps to go, and he didn't want to damage the car, so he just pulled in the pits, I believe. 4. Then Schrader collected himself and Moore coming out of turn 4. Even the leaders were directly involved. Such as when Kenny Wallace spun out leader LaJoie, collecting Earnhardt, Mike Wallace, and Stub Fadden. A little later, a yellow car spun out Stephens which also took out several backmarkers. Much later, Lepage basically punted Combs into the turn 3 wall. 6. There were eight provisional starting spots with four each going to the Busch Series and Busch North Series. That year, the Busch Series was allowed a Past Champions Provisional. There was an assumption that the North Series also got the same rule. They didn't. So when Andy Santerre posted the 45th fastest time, he thought he made the show because Dick McCabe would've been given a past champions provisional for the North Series. It didn't happen and Santerre was sent home. Santerre spun on his qualifying lap, flat-spotting his tires and preventing him from putting down a solid lap. Otherwise, he was a contender for the pole. 10. stricklinfan82 posted: 12.21.2015 - 7:13 pm Rate this comment: (0) (0) Per the live TNN broadcast, the DNQ drivers were: Busch Grand National: Ed Ferree, Roy Payne, Stevie Reeves, Dave Rezendes, Shawna Robinson, Elton Sawyer Busch North: Jeff Barry, Tom Bolles, Babe Branscombe, Bob Brunell, Greg Clark, Scott Deware, Brian Donley, Bryan Goewey, Gerald Marquis, Barney McRae, Steve Nowakowski, Pete Rondeau, Brian Ross, Andy Santerre, Glenn Sullivan 11. The Chevrolet dealers sponsor the race and Derrike Cope crashes the party winning the race in a Ford Thunderbird. Winston Cup racer Ernie Irvan qualified in the top-5 and he ran there early in this one. The Mac Tools #28 Ford however didn't last as oil pump failure in the opening laps as Irvan dueled with Joe Nemechek for fifth-place sent him to the sidelines for the day. 15. Ironic that Davey really wanted to win a Busch Series race in his career but could never do it. Derrike Cope steps into that car the following year and takes it to victory lane right away for his first Busch win in just his 3rd career start, then never wins again in Nascar in his very long career. 17. His sponsor should be listed as Valvoline / Auto Palace since auto palace was on the rear fenders 18. Racing Champions actually made two versions of Cope's car.. they made the FDP Brakes car, but also made an exact replica of the car ran during this race~ That version came in the PVC plastic box, and was a limited release~ 22.
