(Dover: Sadler, LePage, and Cooper; Indy: Emerson Fittipaldi) See what I mean? 2. Matt posted: 11.24.2006 - 4:37 pm Rate this comment: (0) (0) This race was Mike Wallace's first NBS win. 3. Glad to see more fans on this site that have an appreciation for other forms of racing. Lasater was never really up to snuff in the Busch Series. 7. James W. Here's ONE more '94 Indy 500 analogy for you: Mike Joy had said during the starting lineup that Bobby Dotter (#08) was due for a "John Andretti Double" that day. Dotter was supposed to run a short-track race later that night, like Andretti ran Indy and the 600 on the same day. By a bit of contrast, Dotter's crash seemed to put his participation in that night race in jeopardy. So, as a precautionary measure, another driver was on standby in case Dotter couldn't make it. Well, guys--that's all the Indy 500 analogies I can think of. I'll try not to hassle anyone about it anymore. 12. EyeofTheCougar posted: 08.09.2014 - 1:10 am Rate this comment: (0) (0) Dude! Mr. Indy 500 guy, are you in prison when you wrote these status? I mean, how could anyone have that much time on their hands to come up with this! Do you work, have a job? You should go work for the tv networks 13. EyeofTheCougar posted: 08.09.2014 - 1:12 am Rate this comment: (0) (0) By the way, Bobby Dotter had a awesome car. Coulda walked away 2nd in points here and a victory. Sad :( what actually happened which was the start of his down fall where he ended up closing his team 14. James W. You see, I was 13 years old at the time (that's right, 13 years old!), and had recorded the Indy 500 shortly beforehand. And having received a recording of the Goodwrench / Delco 200 from my aunt and uncle, I just couldn't help seeing parallels between the two races (hence the above comparisons). That, my friend, is how I could have had the time for races like those. There you have it! Bada-bing, bada-boom! (By the way, I've never been in jail, and did not have a proper job until I was twenty.) 15. It was rolling at a pretty high speed and hit a guy from Johnny Benson's team and it looked like it absolutely demolished the poor guy's leg. Ugh. 16. saltsburgtrojanfan posted: 11.22.2016 - 9:59 pm Rate this comment: (0) (0) Caution 1: Lap 2-4: #35 spun turn 4 Caution 2: Lap 6-10: #74 engine Caution 3: Lap 18-21: #05 accident backstretch Caution 4: Lap 48-53: #35 spun frontstretch Caution 5: Lap 97-109: #08 accident turn 4 Caution 6: Lap 134-139: #7 accident turn 1 Caution 7: Lap 169-173: #52 accident turn 3 Caution 8: Lap 192-195: #25,56,71 accident backstretch 17. saltsburgtrojanfan posted: 11.22.2016 - 10:11 pm Rate this comment: (0) (0) Correction Caution 1: Lap 3-4 Caution 4: Lap 47-53 18. He would not get back into the top-10 in points for the rest of the season, a rough fate for a series regular who was leading the points standings a handful of races earlier. 21. The Grissoms owned the team only for the 8 races that Tom Peck drove the car. They sold it to Gary Bechtel the Tuesday before the 9th race of the season in Rougemont and he owned it for all the rest of the races with Steve Grissom as driver in 94. Source: The race broadcast of the Rougemont race. TNN had Tom Peck in the booth during the broadcast to explain to fans why all of a sudden the team that had won the Busch Series title the year before wasn't on the track anymore. Tom Peck said Mr. Grissom called him the Tuesday before the Rougemont race and "dropped a bombshell on me", telling him he'd sold the team to Gary Bechtel, Steve's Cup owner and that Bechtel was only going to run a limited schedule for the remainder of the season with his Cup driver, Steve Grissom, driving the car. 22. It hit and injured one of Johnny Benson Jr's crew members. They showed it in slow motion during the broadcast and I slowed it down even more. The guy saw the tire coming. He was facing it and had his body in a position you would get in if you wanted to catch a runaway animal or something and looked like he made the split second decision to kick his left leg out to try and stop it. I can understand making a bad decision like that with not much time to react and could've been something me or anyone could do without thinking. Could be totally wrong about it but that's what it looked like to me. It hit his leg and foot that he stuck out so hard it took it right out from under him and he went down hard to the pavement and Dr. Buddy Baker immediately said during the incident, "Watch that tire! We got a wheel going down pit road there. Oh, it hit a guy. He seems to be ok." Then the cameras go right back to him and he's on the ground with all the crew members around him, 2 of them frantically waiving to bring an ambulance for help. 23.
