Great 3 way race at the end between Setzer, Kenny Wallace and David
Green. Chad Little And Pete Silva got in a pissing contest over who
should get to line up first on a restart and wrecked, tearing up the
right front fender of leader Setzr, who had dominated the race to that
point. Setzer had to pit to remove the fender, then battled back from
restarting 6th with 20 laps to go to win. Great performance from the
home town kid, whom I had grown up watching dominate Hickory in the #4
Orange Blossom Special.

This was the last year that Hickory hosted a Busch race in the summer or
fall and the last time it had more than one race over the course of the
season. The track maintained one spring race through 1998 before leaving
the schedule.

Many of you who have watched this race on YouTube or whatever may have
noticed a teaser about an ASA race to immediately follow this event. The
race was the Mellow Yellow 300 at Heartland Park, Topeka,Kansas. Darrell
Waltrip won it. Ken Schrader and Mark Martin also ran with Schrader
getting a top five and Martin getting a DNF in 37th place. It was a TNN
doubleheader, if you will.

Mike Joy and Buddy Baker were the commentators. Glenn Jarrett was the
sole pit road reporter.
