Anybody know why they took it off the Busch schedule so long? 3. Both are also USAR Hooters Pro Cup veterans. Buicks were scarce in 1992 and Oldsmobiles were seldom used in 1993, but both continued in the Busch Series until 1995, when car choice was limited to Chevrolets, Fords, and Pontiacs. 4. Steve posted: 06.15.2006 - 2:18 am Rate this comment: (0) (0) Correction: Buicks were hardly used in 1992, and Oldsmobiles were rarely used in 1993, in Winston Cup. I should have made that clear. 5. The Real Thomas posted: 06.09.2007 - 9:45 pm Rate this comment: (0) (0) I had been wondering for a long time which race in 1994 had Michael Ritch's car engulfed in flames. I remember watching this race when I was about 9 years old and going crazy when I saw his car on fire. 8. The Real Thomas posted: 06.09.2007 - 9:49 pm Rate this comment: (0) (0) Miller4Prez6, they basically replaced the Busch Series at Martinsville with the Truck series starting in 1995. Darrell, I do believe the David Hyder here is the same one as the crew chief. 9. (mentioned on an RPM2Night telecast from that February) 10. Matthew Sullivan posted: 10.03.2007 - 2:43 am Rate this comment: (0) (0) Andy Petree's last Busch series start (as of 10/2/07) 11. Didn't someone run an Olds at one event in 1995, they had some points in the Manufacturers' Championship that year. 12. jeff posted: 04.01.2008 - 12:47 am Rate this comment: (0) (0) Michael Ritch's car erupted into a huge inferno in the pits on the backstretch all of a sudden, and Nascar had to throw a caution to send rescue crews down to that area of the pits. Thankfully, I don't believe there were any injuries in the incident, but it was quite frightening. 13. Yes, Evernham worked for Earnhardt for one race and the following year Evernham would crew chief Jeff Gordon to the 1995 Winston Cup Championship, edging out Earnhardt, who's crew chief was Andy Petree. 17. RaceFanX posted: 10.16.2016 - 2:39 pm Rate this comment: (1) (0) Often in cases like that there would be a 200-lap undercard race to make 500. Possibly modifieds or late models. 25. Jimnsimforever posted: 02.25.2019 - 12:22 am Rate this comment: (1) (0) Michael Ritch was extremely lucky he was able to get out of that car on the opposite side. The reason he came in was somebody got in the back of him and his hood came up somehow. What the crew didn't know at the time is it knocked the gas tube off from where you put the fuel in. They went to go ahead and fill the car up while it was in without knowing that and fuel comes out of those tank so quick and was going everywhere in the car but the gas tank. It ignited and the car went up in a huge fireball very quickly. Nobody was injured and only one crew member breathed a little smoke in but was quickly ok. I have no idea how Ritch was able to get his harnesses and everything undone and climb to the opposite window where a crew member ripped him out by the shoulders. @18 "Anyone else find it ironic that Michael Ritch's sponsor was a Barbecue place?" This comment got a thumbs down. To show how wimpy and consumed with false outrage our society has become since 1994.......The very second Mike Joy found out nobody was dead or seriously hurt, he made this exact joke on live television right after this happened. 26. Jimnsimforever posted: 02.25.2019 - 12:52 am Rate this comment: (0) (0) I'd also like to add, for the sake of David Green's head, its a good thing he only ended up winning 1 Busch Series title and didn't immediately soar to greater heights or it would've exploded. He was already referring to himself in the third person non stop. "David Green just needs to drive the way David Green wants to and everything will be alright." An actual example. 27. LaJoie made his return known by qualifying on the front row, leading the first 52 laps, and running up near the front before a blown engine put him out. LaJoie probably wouldn't be running this race so soon after a bad wreck today, TNN announcer Buddy Baker mentioned on the broadcast he was talking with LaJoie before this race and Randy told him he was all healed up and ready for a great run here at "Wilkesboro." With Rodney Combs also on the mend after breaking his shoulder in a season-ending crash at Charlotte Petty Enterprises called up the late Dick Trickle to pinch hit at the wheel of the #43 French's Mustard Pontiac for this one. Trickle put the car third on the grid and ran in the top-5 during the opening laps but a mechanical failure knocked the yellow Grand Prix out of the race very early on. ------------------------------------------------------------------------ *Post a comment:* Your comment may not appear immediately - all comments must be approved by the moderator.
